Sendschreiben Thyatira – Jesus hasst frommes Doppelleben

The Spirit of Athaliah and Pride

This message is about power. It seems many love titles in this day and age. There is a feeling one gets when being honored by men.  A title can make one feel important or fill a void from childhood. Some people have a certain longing to be recognized, patted on the back and noticed. Yeshua said, “They love the place of honor at banquets and the chief seats in the synagogues, and respectful greetings in the marketplaces, and being called Rabbi by men” (Matthew 23:6-7 NASB).

Some of the men were hypocrites, but many of the Sadducee’s and Pharisees were very obedient and righteous.

Athaliah was the daughter of wicked Ahab and his wife, Jezebel.

The Tolerant Church – Thyatira

How do you accept the sinner, but not take part in their sin? How do you show grace and truth at the same time? These are questions we often face as Christians, much like the church in Thyatira in Revelation 2. This church became tolerant of sin, which led to Jesus’s correction. Through this letter we can learn how to show compassion to unbelievers without compromising in our walk with God.
